I SEE THE MOON IN COLOR

Excuse the glare......wet dark paint often does that!

I have always thought that images of our ever-present "night light" were such stark, dull, grey and lifeless representations of the beautiful life-giving force which affects our Earth.  This is how I imagine our lovely Luna.  ...exuding vitality and glowing with color.

From the time we are tiny toddlers, our Moon has been pointed out to us in the night sky.  We sing about it in children's songs and ballads.  It influences so much in our lives.  We welcome the life-giving tides it brings to our oceans.  It represents romance and determines planting practices for ancient and modern cultures.  Even our ability to stay "grounded" on this Earth is a result of the Moon's presence within our space.

How fitting, then, to present our Moon as an organic and living entity!  This painting was inspired by "The Moon Challenge" by Barbara Fox and posted to Daily Paintworks on July 13, 2013.
