SUN HAT

"Sun Hat"  Original oil painting  Unframed  6" X 6"

Some of my favorite subjects have always been children's portraits.  Try as I may, I can't stay away from portraits of any kind for very long, as you may have noticed in this 30 day challenge.

Climbing out of the ruins at Mesa Verde, I spotted this adorable little boy perched upon the shoulders of his father.  I asked Mike to snap a few photos and he obliged.  In talking to his Dad, we discovered he had carried his little son for the entire tour.  What a Dad!  There were some dangerous places along the way and I am sure climbing that wooden ladder at the end, with the boy clinging to his head was a little uncomfortable.  However, I am sure he felt he was better safe than sorry, where the child was concerned.

As with most of my 6" X 6" paintings, this is a study and may turn into a larger painting with Dad included.

This is wonderful Debra, what a beautiful little face. A sensitive painting.
